Mainly consisting of a protein called keratin, hair can fade over time. Hair may lose its natural bounce, smoothness, and may even become dull due to stress or harsh treatments.
Restoring and rejuvenating hair is a science at our school of cosmetology in West Palm Beach. Students will learn how to deal with damaged hair and advise their clients on how to keep it healthy. Rejuvenating hair doesn’t have to involve an assortment of harsh products to give it more body and bounce, but instead following a simple few tips will do the trick.
Start from the Inside
The ability to have beautiful hair starts from the inside by consuming healthy foods with the essential vitamins and nutrients a body needs. Hair is a strong indicator of a person’s health since conditions like anemia can cause damage. The hair can suffer breakage, become weak, and some individuals may even experience hair loss. Iron is an essential component to delivering oxygen to the hair follicles. Hair also needs to have essential amino acids in order to feed the keratinocytes.
Keratinocytes are another form of keratin, which is the protective layer on the hair and nails that provides strength and elasticity. Supplementing a diet with foods reach in these essential amino acids is a good way to keep hair healthy. These foods include the following:
- Brussel Sprouts
- Lean meats like turkey and chicken
Honey, Olive Oil, and Eggs
The most effective and economical remedies usually prove to be the most effective. This simple treatment should be applied at least three times a week to be effective in rejuvenating damaged hair.
Preparing the remedy is easy since only 20 ml of olive oil, 20 ml of honey, and two beaten egg yolks are needed. Add the ingredients together in a small mixing bowl and form them into a paste. The hair should be wet before applying the paste and make sure to work it in down to the scalp. Cover the head using a plastic cap and allow the paste to sit for about twenty minutes before rinsing with warm water. There should be a noticeable difference in hair resilience and strength as long as the treatment is kept up in the upcoming weeks.
Coconut Oil & Mayonnaise
Mayonnaise is known to improve hair’s health since it carries nutrients that gives hair extra shine, strength, and flexibility. Practicing this home remedy at least once a week will ensure the hair remains healthy and help to restore it naturally over time.
Simply wet down the hair and apply at least two tablespoons of mayonnaise, massaging it down to the scalp. Let the mayonnaise sit for twenty minutes before rinsing it out with some warm water. Apply two tablespoons of coconut oil to the hair next, repeating the same process as with the mayonnaise. Coconut oil contains proteins that hair loses daily due to weather and sun, but also acts as an excellent conditioner too. Leave the coconut oil on for ten minutes before rinsing it off. Apply this remedy at least twice a week.
