Everyone is different, but everyone has a few things that they share in common. One of those things is that they age, and they show that aging in some rather undignified ways. As you become older, you’re probably going to start fearing those budding lines on your face, and you might even be concerned about sagging skin. We haven’t quite discovered the Fountain of Youth yet, but we still tend to ask whether or not there is any way to combat the aging process and get back the beautiful skin that they had in their youth.
We’re going to level with your right now: once the damage is done you really can’t return the skin to normal, but at any skin care school, you will learn a few helpful hints for making it look a little better, and ultimately how skin works. Today we’re going to cover a few of the basics that can help you to practice better skin care and we will give you plenty of information that you can pass right along to your clients.
Why Does Skin Age?
This is a weird question, we’ll admit, but it’s one that we have to address in skin care school. Yes, everyone ages at some point, and the skin tends to be a special case. So, here’s the big question: what happens to skin as it ages? Well, a huge part of the skin is a substance known as elastin, which is precisely what it sounds like. Elastin is responsible for allowing the skin to snap back into place when it is pulled, and it is also responsible for keeping it evenly distributed for the entirety of your life. As you age, however, elastin begins to degrade and your body will be unable to produce more. At that point, your skin does tend to sag, and it is up to you to make sure you’re able to put that off until a later date.
Putting it Off
The best thing you’re going to learn in our skin care programs is that there are indeed certain products that can slow down the aging effect. There is absolutely nothing that can stop it completely but the right products will help your skin to continue producing elastin for a very long time. One of the most important things to understand about skin care is that the environment around us is very harsh on it. For example, wind, rain, and snow can all have a negative effect on your skin, and it all creates wear and tear. In addition to that, you have the UV ray pounding, courtesy of the sun itself. All of these issues combined are a recipe for disaster, which means protection for the skin is more than just a good idea: it’s an absolute necessity.
