Top Tips for Properly Curling Hair

Top Tips for Properly Curling Hair

Of all the things to take care of on our bodies, hair tends to be one of the least cooperatives, especially if you want it to hold a curl. There are, however, a few tips that you could follow, most of which you would learn at our cosmetology school in Orlando. Let’s take a moment to discuss a few curling methods and how you can best utilize them. With a little bit of practice and a lot of determination, anyone can become great at curling hair.

Hair Cuts and Curls – A Basic of Cosmetology School in Orlando

Getting hair to hold a curl can be a challenge, but if you have thick, blunt ends, it probably won’t hold at all. The same goes if you happen to have split ends – if you want curly hair then you need it to be healthy! If you have split ends, or if your hair is unhealthy, it is critical to seek out a good stylist and a solution that will get it back on track, only then should you be worrying about curls.

Shampoo and Conditioner as a Hindrance

We get it, washing your hair is a must, but did you know that cutting back on the conditioner can actually help your hair to hold the curl? It might sound crazy, but if you use a smaller amount, and apply it only to the ends of your hair, it might actually give you a leg up, or a follicle up.

Dry Shampoos are Key

The cool thing about dry shampoo other than being perfect for those who don’t have time to fully wash their hair is that it adds volume and texture. In addition to dry shampoo, however, you might want to consider other ways to add texture. For example, Argan Oil, or even Moroccan Oil can add volume, and give you an easier time when you want to pull out the curling iron.

Watch Out for the Heat

We’ve said this before in previous blog entries but we’re going to say it again for good measure: make sure you’re using a heat protectant! Hot tools can damage your hair severely, and with that being the case, you need to make sure that you’re applying a heat protectant to your locks. Don’t buy anything cheap for this; you’ll regret it in the long run.

Find the Right Tool

One of the biggest mistakes that people tend to make when they are attempting to curl their hair is the use of substandard tools. Don’t go to your local drugstore and grab the first curling iron you see; it might be tempting, but you could cause more harm than good! Some cheaper curling irons are made from substandard materials, and there are also those that do not provide equal heat distribution across the length of the barrel, leaving you with a poor curling effect. Of course, it is also very important to use the right curling technique, even if you happen to have the best wand, which is something that you will learn at any school of cosmetology in Orlando.

Bring the Hairspray

Don’t make the mistake of forgetting the hairspray! You need to lock in your hair before you start curling, and you need to make sure that you aren’t using a drugstore product. There are plenty of great options, and before you know it, you’re going to create the curls you’ve always wanted.

The most important thing to remember, and something that you are going to learn at our affordable cosmetology school Orlando, is that everyone is different, and everyone has different requirements for curling. As you explore the different types of hair, you will learn the many different methods for curling them, and you will be able to exert these skills on any client.
